Otis Enokido-Lineham
Otis Enokido-Lineham is a British/Japanese conductor currently based in London.
In February 2022 he was appointed Assistant Conductor with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO), for the duration of the 2022/23 season. He also held the position of conductor with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group NEXT Programme and worked with both ensembles in a variety of concerts and projects. Last season he was also a semi-finalist for the Siemens-Halle Conducting Competition in Manchester and made his debut at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London.
Highlights from this coming season see him work on a new opera commissioned by the Roberts Institute of Art, a side-by-side project with the London Mozart Players and a variety of symphonic and new music concerts.
He has assisted Ryan Bancroft with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and attended masterclasses with Martyn Brabbins/BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and at the Campos do Jordao Festival in Sao Paolo.
Working with youth orchestras/ensembles forms a large part of his work and Otis teaches at the Yehudi Menuhin School as head of orchestral training. He features on the School’s first commercial album, ‘Around the World in 80 Minutes’, alongside artists such as Maxim Rysanov. He has also worked with the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain, London Schools Symphony Orchestra and Purcell School Symphony Orchestra.
In the field of contemporary music he has worked with a number of the major ensembles in the UK having assisted at the London Sinfonietta, conducted the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, attended masterclasses with the Eotvos Foundation and as a Britten-Pears Young Artist on the Composition and Performance course.
Otis studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Sian Edwards, winning both the Conducting Prize and Regency Award for outstanding performance. He also completed a short exchange with the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam with Antony Hermus and Ed Spanjaard. Whilst at the Academy he worked with conductors such as Edward Gardner, Sir Mark Elder, John Wilson and Ludovic Morlot and assisted Alice Farnham in a double bill of Ravel and Puccini on the Academy Opera Course. Previously he also studied the cello at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) with Petr Prause and Victoria Simonsen.
